SAfrica- Orphan Home
It will probably take several posts to put up pics and blog about our whole South Africa experience. This is of the temporary foster home. CRC (Christian Revival Church) is the only non-government organization that the government works directly with. This temp home is where social services places children while waiting for paperwork to make its way through the system. These kids are waiting for foster homes/adoption. This is the group of older kids. The next age group down was still in school and the babies were bathing and napping. These kids are so well loved and they are just loving life. They sang us several songs and showed us around the house.
This baby girl, about 18 mos, was found with her 4 other siblings. The oldest boy, 10 yrs, looked after the younger 4 for almost 3 months before they were discovered. Their mother died and they don't know where their father went. The 10 year old went out daily to the garbage dumps to search for any food scraps that would feed them for the day. I wanted to bring them all home with me!
Here, we are giving sharps. Sharps are like high-fives, and they just LOVE it! To do sharps, you make a thumbs up sign, then you touch your thumb to someone else's and snaps your thumbs left. It's super cute and so much fun. Everywhere we went the children wanted sharps from the Americans.
