A Must Read For Parents!!!

Can you imagine if you spent one whole day behaving exactly like a toddler? Where every social filter you own completely disappeared along with the ability to regulate your emotions and control your bowel functions? You'd spend the day hurtling at breakneck speeds from deranged joy to bleakest sorrow, shrieking and giggling and sobbing and randomly pooping your pants, until someone finally dragged you away and slapped a straitjacket on you.
Toddlers are weirdos, and that's all there is to it. It's like living with a tiny deranged human whose meds stopped working a long time ago and now the voices are back and LOUDER THAN EVER.
They babble incoherently, they throw themselves against sofas yelling "BOOO!", they flip out and cry when it takes them longer than .0004 seconds to peel a magnet off the fridge, they laugh themselves sick over things that frankly are not THAT hilarious, and they cram all sorts of non-edible objects in their mouth. They love a certain food one minute and despise it the next. They constantly smack their heads into things and they run like a malfunctioning robot.
Raising a toddler is like falling to the very bottom of the rabbit hole, where everything is psychedelic and there's always maniacal circus music playing somewhere. There's nothing to do but succumb, and let go of your version of reality in favor of this crazy toddler existence.
Up is down! Black is white! String is cheese is good! I mean string cheese is bad! Turn on, tune in, drop out!
I knew that high school drug experimentation would come in handy someday. I wasn't just being rebellious and escaping reality by altering my consciousness, I was planning ahead.

New Pic

Yesterday we did some filming for a new commercial. Since we had both kids with us, Terry took a picture of the whole family. I realized that this is the only nice picture we have of all four of us. The kids are scheduled to get their pictures taken tomorrow (I'll get those up later next week) but we still need to get some of all of us. In one of the pictures taken Chloe and I looked great, but Jeremy and Logan had these goofy looks on their faces. Typical :P

Tulip Festival

Chloe and I went to the Tulip Festival with some friends yesterday. I love going there- plus the tulips are dirt cheap! The weather ended up being kind of nice. It wasn't raining and it wasn't too cold. But it was windy- and of course, Chloe lost her barrettes on the way up! Logan didn't enjoy it as much. He doesn't like wind- AT ALL! He kept turning his head until his hat covered most of his face, as you can see in the picture. You can tell Chloe lives in the city. She was a little unsure on her feet on the dirt roads and out in the fields. I had her stand in one row so I could take her picture with the fields of tulips behind her. Yeah, she fell 3 times while just standing there. I don't know who she gets that from!!! But I got what I went for- pictures of Chloe and TONS of tulips. I think I came home with 7 bundles of tulips and an order of bulbs for our flower beds. After the 6th flower vase, I was running out of places to put tulips in the house. So happy!!!

7 Weeks

Hard to believe it's already been 7 weeks! Logan weighed 10lbs, 6 oz at the 6 wk check-up. He is still such a peaceful baby. I am so grateful for the easy-going manner of this one! I really don't know if I could handle another Chloe. His eyes turned blue about 2 1/2 weeks ago- they were grey. I think the only feature he has of mine is the nose. Oh, and his fabulous skin tone! I kept saying I wanted a little boy that had Jeremy's blue eyes and my dark skin. This is working out perfectly. The only thing that hasn't worked out perfectly is his sleep habit. Chloe, being the "great" helper that she is, checks on him a little too much. We are trying to teach him to soothe himself back to sleep when he wakes before his nap is over. Unfortunately that is difficult with Chloe climbing into the crib to "check" on him or "just give him one last kiss." And he does sleep 7-8 hours at night, just not the right 7-8 hours. He'll fall asleep around 7:30 or 8:00pm but then get up again around 3:00am. If only I could go to bed that early or he could stay awake just 2 more hours :)

Easter

I love holidays, but I sure am glad that this one is over and now we have a little holiday break. We should have had our Easter with Chloe and Logan last night- live and learn. Today was so crazy that Chloe still has 2 baskets she hasn't opened and we never did hide eggs. I guess it's a good thing she doesn't really care about traditions! We had 3 services this morning and Jeremy had young adults tonight. We had a few hours free this afternoon, but were just wiped out. I think we slept through our "free" time.

I did get some pictures of the kids this morning before we took off for church. This last week Logan has started smiling. And he smiles a lot! He especially loves pretty girls! He's even becoming a camera ham :) I have tons of great outfits for him, but he's not quite fitting in the 0-3 months yet. And Newborns are too small. So this morning's outfit kind of swallowed him. Oh, and of course, he spit up right when we were taking pictures. Isn't that the way it usually goes?!?
